Your footage still has a story to tell. At Colorado Arts Productions, we help individuals, organizations and production teams transfer legacy video recordings into digital files they can watch, edit and share.
Our core services focus on Betacam, Betacam SP, DVCAM and MiniDV. Whether you are preserving an archive, revisiting documentary footage or rediscovering personal recordings, we help you plan the right transfer and delivery approach.
Our primary transfer services focus on professional and small-format video tapes. Send the format names or photos of the labels, and we will help identify the right path.
Compatibility depends on the recorded format, recording mode, video standard and condition. Please mention any HDV, Digital Betacam, PAL or unusual recording labels.
Other tape formats: Have VHS, VHS-C, Hi8, Video8, Digital8 or another format? Ask about current availability. We confirm the playback route and any specialist involvement before quoting.
Film reel digitization: We also offer digitization of 8mm, Super 8 and 16mm film reels. We review the format, condition and project requirements before confirming transfer options and availability.
A clear path from your first inquiry to final delivery.
Tell us what you have, how many tapes or reels are involved and how you plan to use the footage. We review the format and condition.
We confirm the transfer approach, deliverables, estimate and schedule before the work begins.
We use a workflow appropriate to the source material and review the resulting files for transfer issues.
Receive files in the agreed format and delivery method, with clear filenames and relevant transfer notes.
A family viewing copy and a documentary editing master serve different purposes. We help you choose an appropriate delivery plan rather than treating every collection the same.
Color correction, audio cleanup, noise reduction and editing can be quoted separately. When enhancement is part of the project, the original transfer and enhanced version remain separate.
Files prepared for convenient playback and sharing on the devices you plan to use.
Delivery options for continued post-production, with specifications agreed around your workflow.
Clear filenames, source identifiers and project-specific organization to help you keep track of the material.
File types, storage media and delivery method are specified in your quote. Long-term storage and ongoing digital preservation are not included unless separately agreed.
We work with filmmakers, production companies, museums, archives, broadcasters, journalists, universities and families. Whether you are evaluating a collection or starting with a few recordings, we can help define a manageable project.
Digitization brings older footage into a workflow you can use today. It can be the starting point for an anniversary film, a documentary sequence, a historical collection or simply watching a recording again.
Your digital collection still needs reliable backups and ongoing care. The transfer is one step in preserving access to the material.
A few common questions.
Pricing depends on the format, quantity, running time, condition and files or enhancements you need. Send a rough inventory or photos of your collection so we can scope an estimate. You do not need an exact runtime to start the conversation.
Email photos of the cassette or reel, its labels and any markings on the case. We will help identify the format and confirm the available transfer options before arranging a handoff.
We offer 8mm, Super 8 and 16mm film reel digitization on a project-by-project basis. Transfer specifications, any sound requirements and turnaround are confirmed after reviewing your reels.
For video tapes, digitization does not turn the original recording into true HD or 4K footage. Optional processing may improve the viewing experience, depending on the source. Film transfer specifications are assessed separately for each project; no scan resolution is promised before that review.
Recovery cannot be guaranteed. Tell us about visible damage, suspected damage or previous playback problems before delivery. Some material needs specialist assessment, and we will discuss limitations before proceeding.
Contact us first to confirm the format, availability and a suitable handoff or shipping plan. We agree a schedule after reviewing the collection and delivery requirements. Please do not send or drop off original recordings before the arrangements are confirmed.
Tell us what you have and what you would like to do with it. A rough inventory or photos of the labels are a helpful starting point.
Include the tape or film formats, approximate number of tapes or reels, intended use and any deadline or special concerns.
Use the contact form and mention digitization, or email us to include photos.
