Behind the Scenes of “I Don’t Give A Funk” by The Orchestrator

One of our most exciting recent projects was creating the music video for “I Don’t Give A Funk” by The Orchestrator, also known as Brandon Theis. This vibrant, high-energy video not only captured the essence of Brandon’s journey but also achieved remarkable success, climbing to #1 on iTunes Jazz Music Video Charts and #3 on iTunes Top Music Video Charts on May 15, 2024.

The theme of the music video reflects on Brandon’s rise as an artist, highlighting the criticism he faced early in his career and his hustle and determination to prove the cynics wrong. The video showcases his journey, starting with small, intimate performances and culminating in larger, more public settings as his fanbase grows and follows the sound of his music. By the end of the video, Brandon’s presence is undeniable, mirroring his real-life success.

  • Diverse Locations: We utilized a variety of settings, including our own studio space, a concert venue, the streets of Denver, and a vacant retail space. Each location added a distinct vibe to the video, enhancing its narrative.
  • Bootstrap Outreach: To simulate a live concert at Larimer Lounge in Denver, we reached out to friends, family, and fans of The Orchestrator to fill the venue. The energy they brought to the shoot was palpable and added an authentic touch to the concert scenes. To anyone unaware of the cameras roaming around the venue, this WAS a real concert.
  • Innovative Filming Techniques: For the alleyway scenes, we utilized our  RONIN 2 3-axis Handheld/Aerial Stabilizer mounted on a jib off the back of a pickup truck. Our 1st AC pulled focus from the passenger seat while the RONIN 2 operator worked alongside the jib in the truck bed to control the tilt, pan and roll of the camera. This setup allowed us to capture dynamic, cinematic shots that elevated the overall production value.

The success of this music video wasn’t just about the shoot—it was also a testament to the power of post-production. Our team dedicated countless hours to editing, color grading, and adding visual effects to ensure the video matched the song’s bold and funky vibe. Every frame was meticulously engineered to tell The Orchestrator’s story in the most compelling way possible.

The “I Don’t Give A Funk” music video and song is a testament to the power of perseverance, creativity, and collaboration. Brandon Theis’s journey from underdog to chart-topper is a story that resonates with audiences, and we’re honored to have played a part in bringing it to life.
